Brand and Manufacturer Endpoints

This document covers the brand and manufacturer endpoints: reading the brands listed on the marketplace, the brand record a manufacturer account maintains for its own brands, and the authorizations under which a seller may list a gated brand. Brand gating for sellers is governed by the Brand Gating Policy (Sellers) (Brand Gating Policy (Sellers)) and the Brand Gating Policy; this document states the endpoint mechanics.

Access through the developer API is issued by the Company and is limited by seller type: manufacturer and supplier accounts receive API access for importing data, under the Developer Agreement and the API Access Tiers. Brand-record write endpoints are available to the manufacturer account that owns the brand. Nothing in this document grants broader access.

A brand's listing status is per category, not global: a brand may be live for a product in one category and not listed in another. A product may be offered for sale under a brand only where the brand is live for that product's category and, for gated brands, only by a seller holding a current authorization (see below). Brand status values are defined in Data Types and Enums.

When you list products, use the brand name exactly as it appears on the brand record (Catalog Endpoints): the brand value on your products is matched to this record, and a mismatched spelling creates an unmatched listing that will not show the brand's logo or protections.

Maintaining your brand record

As brand owner, PATCH /brands/{id} updates description, logo_url, and website. Send a logo_url pointing at a publicly reachable image file; the marketplace displays it at the sizes its pages require. Name changes are not self-service: a brand name is an identity buyers rely on, so request a name change through support@aapawz.com with the reason.

If a brand's standing changes: for example, supply is interrupted: the Company may return the brand to a not-live status in affected categories. Products that can no longer be offered under the brand are withdrawn from sale in those categories until the brand is live again. Watch for the brand.updated event (Webhook Event Schemas) to react in your own systems.

Seller authorizations

An authorization is the documented permission for a named seller to list a gated brand. It names the seller, the brand, the kind of authorization, the evidence, and its validity period.

  "created_at": "2026-01-15T10:31:00Z",
  "updated_at": "2026-01-15T10:31:00Z"
}

Rules

  • evidence_url must resolve to the actual authorization document: a purchase order, a wholesale agreement, or the manufacturer's authorization letter. A record without evidence is not an authorization, and listings relying on it will be treated as unauthorized.
  • An authorization past its valid_until is expired and confers no rights, whether or not its status has been updated yet. Check dates, not status alone, in your own systems, and renew before expiry to keep listings live.
  • status is pending_review, current, expired, revoked, or ended. The Company reviews recorded authorizations and may revoke one that does not hold up; revocation takes effect for new listings immediately and for existing listings as the Brand Gating Policy provides.

As a seller, GET /authorizations lists the authorizations recorded for your account, so your import systems can check coverage before listing a gated brand (Catalog Endpoints) and can hold stock decisions accordingly (Inventory Endpoints).
