Signing In to the Employee Portal

This page covers how to sign in to the Employee Portal at /employee, how the portal routes each role after sign-in, what to do when a session stops working, and how to sign out safely on a shared computer.

Signing in

The Employee Portal has one entry point: /employee. An older door page permanently redirects to /employee, so an old bookmark lands in the right place. If you are signed out, /employee shows the sign-in door in place; there is no separate login page.

  1. Go to /employee.
  2. Enter your credentials at the sign-in door.
  3. The portal hands you to the dashboard at /employee/dashboard.

If you arrive from a Google sign-in that failed, the door stays up and shows the error message rather than redirecting you elsewhere.

How role routing works

Signing in does not guarantee you land in the Employee Portal. Each time the portal loads, it checks your role and routes you to the portal that matches it

  • Groomer: you stay in the Employee Portal. The sidebar renders in its groomer variant: station dashboard, your appointments, shifts, handling notes, and style records. Business navigation (CRM, orders, accounting) does not appear.
  • Admin: you are redirected to /admin/dashboard. Admin-scope work happens in the admin portal, not here.
  • Customer: you are redirected to /customer/dashboard.

This explains the most common sign-in complaint: "I logged in but I don't see my appointments." The usual cause is signing in under the wrong role: often an admin account the person also uses. Check which account you are in before filing a ticket. Credential handling and session expectations are governed by the Authentication Controls (Authentication Controls Policy).

If you are bounced back to the sign-in door

Your browser can hold a session cookie that looks valid but is not: it expired on the server, or your staff record was deactivated. When the cookie verifies but the portal finds no valid user behind it, you get the sign-in door instead of a broken, half-loaded portal. If you see the login screen right after signing in, do not keep retrying the same credentials. Clear the site's cookies, or sign in fresh through the door, and the problem resolves.

Signing out

  1. Sign out from the header.
  2. Wait for the sign-out to complete before leaving the page. The portal completes the sign-out before navigating, because /employee is session-aware: if it navigates while the session is still alive, it sends you straight back into the portal and it looks as though sign-out failed.

If you tap sign out and land right back inside, the cookie did not clear. Close the tab, clear cookies for the site, and sign in fresh.

Warning

On a shared register or back-office computer, always sign out at the end of your shift. The next person who opens the browser inherits whatever session is still alive. Shared-device hygiene is part of the Employee Code of Conduct.

When sign-in genuinely fails

  • Wrong credentials: the door tells you. Reset through the recovery flow your manager gave you; the door itself has no self-service password reset.
  • "Your sign-in isn't linked to a staff profile": your login works, but no staff record is tied to your user account, so the portal has nothing to show you. This is a manager action: your manager links your profile on the admin side, and then the portal opens. You cannot fix this yourself.
  • Everything loads but it is the wrong portal: see the role routing above. You are in the wrong account.
