Your Dashboard

This page covers the employee dashboard at /employee/dashboard: the day-at-a-glance counts, the Next Up card, the time clock widget, and the My Modules list that shows what you are permitted to touch in the business systems.

The day at a glance

The dashboard answers one question: what is on your plate right now? Everything on it is driven by your appointments feed, filtered to your user ID. Ownership is enforced on the server, so you only ever see appointments assigned to you. If an appointment is not yours, it is not on your dashboard.

The top of the page counts your day in the location's timezone (America/Chicago unless the location sets its own): how many appointments you have today, how many are currently in service, how many you have completed, and how many are coming up. Below that sits the Next Up card: the nearest appointment in an actionable status (scheduled, confirmed, checked in, in service, hold, precheck, or rescheduled). That card is your cue for what to walk toward next.

Each appointment row shows the pet names, the service names, the customer name, and the start time, with a status pill

  • Checked In: the pet is here; work has not started.
  • In Service: you are actively working the appointment.
  • On Hold: paused mid-service, for example waiting on the owner or letting a matted coat soak. Hold is an honest state, not a failure state.
  • Completed: done and closed out.

Tap through to an appointment to work it. The check-in, start, and complete flow lives on the schedule page; see Working Your Appointments.

The time clock widget

The dashboard hosts the time clock widget: your clock-in and clock-out control. It shows today's entries and whether you currently have an open entry. Clock in when your shift starts and clock out when it ends. The full rules, including the one-open-entry rule and what to do when you forget, are in Shifts and the Time Clock.

My Modules

Further down, the dashboard lists your modules: the twelve business areas (Customers, Appointments, Payments, Invoices, Deposits, Refunds & Disputes, Gift Cards & Credits, Inventory, Products & Services, Purchasing, Communications, Reports) and the access level you hold in each: Read, Write, or Full access. These come from your permission grants, which the server reads on every load.

This list is the truth about your permissions. If a module is not listed, you do not have it; the model is additive, and there is no "none" row. The modules themselves open in the admin portal; the dashboard is your view of what you are granted. If you need access you do not have: Refunds & Disputes at Write level, for example: that is a manager conversation, not a setting you can change. The full explanation is in Module Permissions: What You Can and Can't Touch (Module Permissions: What You Can and Can't Touch). Access is granted on a least-privilege basis under the Data Access & Least Privilege policy (Data Access and Least Privilege Policy), which is also why you see only your own assignments.

When the dashboard looks wrong

  • Empty appointment list on a day you know you are booked: first check that you are signed in as yourself, not a coworker. Then check with your manager that the appointments are actually assigned to your staff record. The feed filters on assignment, and an appointment assigned to the wrong groomer is invisible to you by design.
  • Counts that do not match the schedule page: both pages read the same data, so a mismatch means one of them loaded stale data. Refresh. If it persists, file a ticket; see Support Tickets and Internal Communication.
  • The page never loads past the loading screen: the layout shows a loading screen until your session resolves. If it hangs there, your session is not resolving; sign out and back in. See Signing In to the Employee Portal.
