This page explains the pricing tools in Seller Center: the bulk editor, AutoPrice, discounts, and promotions: how the buy box is decided, and where pricing insights are found. This page summarizes the Seller Pricing Policy, which governs, and the Promotions and Coupons Policy.
Your price, your responsibility
Your marketplace listings carry the prices you set, and the price you set is the price you are accountable for. A separate pricing rule governs products sold by the Company itself. On your pricing, the Company enforces two things: no deceptive pricing (a compare-at anchor that was never a genuine price, or a price set only to manufacture a discount), and enough price stability that the price means something. Pricing that games search ranking is governed by the Search Manipulation Policy.
The pricing tools
Pricing → Overview (/seller/pricing/overview) is the command page: listings priced, active AutoPrice rules, buy box win rate, and active promotions, each linking into its tool.
Bulk editor (/seller/pricing/bulk-editor) updates many prices at once and saves them in one action. Use it for cost changes, category-wide adjustments, and seasonal repricing, on a deliberate schedule with a reason for each change.
Warning
Prices saved in the bulk editor take effect as the prices buyers see and pay. Preview the changes and check a sample of listings before you save: one wrong value can reprice hundreds of listings at once.
AutoPrice (/seller/pricing/AutoPrice) automates repricing with conditions and actions: for example, a rule that responds when a competitor's price falls, adjusts your price, and stops at a floor you set. Follow these rules
- Set a floor on every rule. A rule without a floor can sell at a loss for weeks before you notice.
- Review rule activity weekly.
- Turn off rules that are not performing.
Discounts (/seller/pricing/discounts) and Promotions (/seller/pricing/promotions) cover coupons, sales events, and promotional pricing. Use promotions for launches, seasons, and clearing slow inventory, and give every promotion an end date. A product that is always on sale teaches buyers that the sale price is the real price.
The buy box
Pricing → Buy box (/seller/pricing/buy-box) shows which of your listings can win the buy box: the default seller shown on a product page when several sellers offer the same product. Eligibility is not price alone. It takes into account your performance (including late shipment rate and feedback), your fulfillment reliability, and your price competitiveness together. The cheapest seller with a poor late shipment rate does not win over a slightly higher-priced seller who ships on time. If you are losing the buy box, check Performance and Account Health before cutting price.
The success hub tools at /seller/analytics/success-hub/match-buy-box and /seller/analytics/success-hub/match-price give targeted recommendations. Treat a recommendation as a lead, not an instruction: check it against your own margins before you act.
Pricing insights
Pricing → Pricing insights (/seller/pricing/pricing-insights) and the analytics view at /seller/analytics/pricing-insights show where you stand: the listings where you are priced out of contention, and the listings where you are priced below what the market supports. Both directions matter.
If something goes wrong
- Two sellers lowering prices against each other automatically: set floors on your AutoPrice rules and know your walk-away price before you automate.
- A promotion that never ends: set an end date; permanent sale pricing destroys the anchor price.
- Buy box lost after a price cut: price was not the problem. Check your late shipment rate and feedback first.
- A bulk edit repriced the wrong listings: correct the affected prices in the bulk editor and check a sample of listings to confirm the correction.
Listing obligations, including pricing accuracy, are stated in the Selling Terms of Service.
